Wordful Wednesday: Asheville Part II

Missed the first two days?  Check them out here
Day 3
We woke up early and took a long drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway.  If you've never been on the Blue Ridge Parkway, start making plans!  It was incredible. Brett and I added a start-to-finish parkway trip to our travel bucket list.
Many thanks to the  87 year old man who took our picture.  I hope to be like him when I'm 87.
I want to live here.
Max did not enjoy the Parkway drive as much as me.

After 3 hours on the Parkway and one very pissed off son, we headed into the small town of Brevard for lunch, ice cream and a really cool toy shop!

After a nap and some general laziness back at the hotel, we ventured out into downtown Asheville for dinner.
Max enjoyed eating his dinner in the middle of Packs Square.
And despite being out way past his bed time, Max was on his best behavior.

Day 4
We thought about spending some more time exploring the town and we discussed checking out the Apple Festival in nearby Hendersonville but in the end we grabbed some bagels and coffee and hit the road early. Unlike our trip out, which took 7.5 hours, the way home only took 5.

All in all we had an amazing time.  Brett and I were both worried about the trip being a total disaster so when everything went well we were downright giddy.  I know there are many more trips in our future, some incredible and some we'll want to forget but as a traveling family we are off to a great start!!
